GROUND IMPROVEMENT SYSTEMS
“A consulting geotechnical engineer has one primary question to answer on every design project that he does and that is can this structure be supported on shallow foundations or does it need to go to deep foundations, in other words is it an inch or is it a mile? Now he has another option; does it have to be deep foundations or can it be intermediate foundations – less expensive and more practical.”
– Nathaniel S. Fox, founder of the Geopier Foundation Company®.

WHAT IS GROUND IMPROVEMENT?
Ground Improvement is a technique used to increasing the bearing capacity and provides positive settlement control by densifying the soil. Ground Improvement techniques can be used in a variety of applications including the new construction of building foundations, tanks, retaining walls, slopes and embankments, as well as transportation applications and liquefaction mitigation. Ground improvement is ideally suited for weak and highly compressible soils.
