Tied-Back Shotcrete Shoring

Tied-back shotcrete shoring is the latest technology for below grade excavation shoring. This system employs a “top-down” installation techniques which involves excavating down in safe increments at a 45 degree angle to form a stable berm of soil; installing tie-back anchors through this berm; excavating the berm vertically down in a specific stages sequence so as to not destabilized the excavation; applying shotcrete immediately to the excavated areas; and stressing the tie-back anchors before proceeding to the next phase of work. This sequence is repeated in safe vertical increments until the below grade structure is constructed to the desired depth.

Shotcrete Shoring Benefits:

  • Zero clearance
  • Provides negligible movement
  • Creates minimal disturbance to loose overburden soils
  • Well suited for confined areas where access is difficult
