Sable Island Wind Turbines Helical Foundation System

 THE PROBLEM

Environment Canada wanted to supplement the diesel powered generators on Sable Island with wind turbines but the poor soil conditions, lack of resources on the island and the environmentally sensitive area presented a challenge for any deep foundation system.

 THE SOLUTION

A Helical Foundation System proved to be ideally suited for these conditions since it could be custom designed for any soil condition, installed using small, locally available equipment and generated very little noise or vibration during the installation.
