Charlottetown Province House Excavation Shoring
Description:
This project is comprised of a two year extensive restoration of Province House in Charlottetown.
Subsurface Conditions:
Subsurface conditions around Province House consisted of a shallow fill over dense sandy silt glacial till. Sandstone bedrock was encountered between 7 and 8 meters from surface elevation.
AMCON Solution:
A shoring wall was needed to minimize the area required to be excavated around the building.
AMCON Limited designed and installed a cantilevered soldier pile and lagging wall to retain the overburden soils outside the excavation area. Soldier piles were installed using a large diameter auger dangled from a 20 ton excavator. The wall was cantilevered due to the amount of utilities in the area of work.
