Queen Street NSLC Impact® Rammed Aggregate Piers

Description:
Construction of a new Nova Scotia Liquor Commission Store on Queen Street in Halifax next to the existing Sobeys.  

Subsurface Conditions:
Fill site consisting of dense sand, cobbles, boulders and debris including wood and bricks.

AMCON Solution:
As an alternative to over excavation and replacement, AMCON designed and installed the Geopier Impact® System, a ground improvement system, to support the footings and floor slab of the new NSLC. Piers were installed up to 16 feet deep using the Impact T Mandrel eliminating the need to truck any fill off site and also eliminating any dewatering required while also increasing the bearing capacity of the soil.
