Caissons
Typically, caissons require large foundation drills for their installation that are usually not available locally and become very expensive to import especially for small jobs. Our excavator mounted equipment can install caissons up to 30″ in diameter which is readily available with low mobilization costs.
The installation consists of temporary steel “can” into the ground up to 20′-0″ deep using our excavator mounted vibro-hammer and auguring out its contents with our excavator mounted drill.
After the contents are removed, the bottom of the caisson is compacted and made ready for the reinforcing steel and concrete to construct the caisson. The steel can can be removed or left permanently in place to serve as formwork. This technique is very economical and applicable to many soil types ranging from loose sands and soft clays to dense till and fractured bedrock.
